Our Mission:
The I AM Foundation continued mission is to dispel misbeliefs and misconceptions about the LGBTQ Community and the disparities that exist within the LGBTQ community especially as it relates to the African American Gay Community.
What We Believe:
The I Am Foundation believes the population of youth experiencing homelessness in the LGBTQ community goes unseen. With this firm belief, we actively advocate for these youths’ needs and ensure our partners in our extended civic community those whom we serve will have the knowledge they need to help create real, lasting change. The I Am Foundation advocacy and policy work will shape services for LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness for decades to come. Taking the lead on the rights of LGBTQ rights as well as ensuring our LGBTQ youth live and grow in safe, nurturing places. I Am Foundation since April of 2014 has been a consistent voice at both the city and state levels of advocacy and policy work.

Mr. D'Angelo Davis
Co-Founder/President
D’Angelo Davis, Founder, and President of I Am Foundation is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is an alumnus of Howard School of Academics and Technology. With a vision and purpose of change, he would develop the concept and ideas of the I Am Foundation in 2010.
It would be in that year that he would cultivate his passion for activism for the local LGBTQ community. It would be directly after his matriculation through the Hamilton County Schools, that he would immerse himself in numerous charitable activities ranging from participating in fundraising events for Chattanooga Cares, assisting with the Southside Community Development, and coaching a local dance team.

Mr. Sean Nix
Co-Founder/Executive Director
Sean Nix, Co-Founder, and Executive Director of the I Am Foundation is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is an alumnus of Chattanooga High School Center of Creative Arts. He would attend Fisk University located in Nashville, Tennessee and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
In 2011 he would obtain a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. It would be on the hallowed grounds of Fisk University where he would develop a passion for service and community activism. In 2014 Mr. Nix would join with Mr. Davis and lay the foundation for The I Am Foundation organization.
He currently serves as the LGBTQ Taskforce Chairman for the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Branch of the NAACP, he has held that position since 2015 advocating for equal rights for the LGBTQ community on both the State and local levels of government in Tennessee. In 2019, he would receive the 2019 NAACP Chattanooga-Hamilton County Branch Political Action Award.
